Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Just before the October Natural Resources Committee meeting on Thursday, October 9, Commissioner John Walters added an amendment to Fisheries Order 206 – “Bass - Closed bass CIR season from May 1 – Friday before the third Saturday in June for Burt, Mullet, Crooked, Pickerel, and Black Lakes and their connecting waters.”

9th Annual "CHILLER THRILLER" Kent Lk. 10-26-13

That time of year again, the Chiller Thriller tournament is going out of the east launch at Kent Lk. In Milford, Mi. 10-26-13 Saturday. Sign ups start at 6:00am, pre meeting is at 6:45am, and take off is at 7:00am. We will fish until 3:00 pm. Tournament fee is $100.00 and monster bass pot is $10.00 There will be trophies given out to 1st 2nd and 3rd place also a nice plaque for the biggest bass of the day. We will also have grilled hamburgers and Kogel hotdogs for all contestants at the weigh in. If you need any more info call Benny at 248-887-1129. Last year we had 25 teams.

This is good news.  I was hoping to fish one more tourney before the season was over, but the way my weekends are looking, I didn;t think it was going to be possible.  However, the 26th is one of the only days I have open, so this works out perfect!

It was cold, but a good time.  I'm not sure who won, because I unfortunatley had to leave early (around 1) due to an urgent call from work. >:(  Seemed like a good group of guys fishing this event, with some very good "local sticks" participating.  At least for me, the fish didnt want to cooperate the way I would have liked, but with having to leave early, i guess it didnt really matter.
