The poorly written, damaging to Michigan Sport Fishing commercial fishing bills have been introduced again. State House Bills 5801 and 5802, introduced by Rep. Dave Prestin and Rep. Jason Morgan, have been assigned to the House Committee on Natural Resources and Tourism.

This is a tale of two lakes. Intertwined lakes, in Barry County, Michigan. Where somehow the water has gone away. Upper and Lower Crooked Lakes, both near and dear to me, are suffering from the lowest water levels I've seen in the 35+ years I've been fishing them.

Maybe computer nerds shouldn't fish tournament?? I used to look for a noon until 4pm circuit... ;D I used to be able to fish okay and remember stuff with those few hours of sleep but that has long passed.

The few hours of sleep were better than the early days though when I couldn't go to sleep at all because every tournament was like Christmas!! Weird now that I sometimes can't get to sleep the night before a fishing trip?

Maybe I just need to go fishing more often...? It could be a little of the 'what have I forgotten to pack' issue too I guess. If I have a short time to prepare I pretty much always forget something - sunglasses the other day for a camera shoot. Forgetting your polarized sunglasses on a sunny day when you're a pale-skinned redhead with light blue eyes is not good packing... ya'll can call me squinty... :D

I've rarely had to jump in the 12 or 13 years since I quit buying bargain basement 'who knows how made this batch' batteries. I would unhook the one jumper wire hoping I was less likely to drop one end of the jumper or whatever connection I was trying to make on more than 12 volts. Reduce the odds is something I try to practice more often.

I normally keep caps on the positive terminals of my batteries to reduce tool error issues. :)

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.
