This year i want to buy a smoked salmon for a christmas dinner party.Does anybody know of any fresh deli's around Canton,MI or anywhere close around(willing to travel 60 mile range).i remember my parents doing this when i was a little guy. They usally when to some kind of store/boating dock sorta business and was able to purchase the fish already cooked/smoked. this was in wisconsin by the lake michigan shores.

Thought this would be a special treat for the family i'm with right now since they've never done this before.I know salmon is pricey too...

I think Superior Fish on 11 Mile Rd. in Royal Oak has smoked fish.  I also think that Holiday Market in Royal Oak has it.

You also might want to type smoked salmon in your search engine.  I just tried it and a lot of websites are out there that sell smoked salmon.

try Carlson's fisheries in Leland 231-256-9771 they smoke our fish for us and it is the best smoked salmon I have ever had! I'm pretty sure they ship as well, also you have to try the jerky,  it is unreal. Talk to Bill, Jennifer, or Clay; tell them Double Trouble told you to call & they'll take good care of you. They sell smoked/fresh salmon, chubs, whitefish and probably some other stuff I am forgetting.

i don't since i'm from canton. other post mentioned a holiday market, and there's one in canton at cherry hill & lilley. maybe give them a call. they do have a excellent meat department.

Isn't smoked salmon a Jewish delicacy??   :-\'   And don't they call them Loks??   :-\'  I would say get the old Yellow Pages out and check for some Jewish Deli's up around Birmingham, Bloomfield, Royal Oak, Southfield area.  I know there are a couple on Orchard Lake Road between 10 and 15 Mile Roads.  There used to be a good one over near the Northland Mall in Southfield.  I can't recall the name but I think it was on Greenfield around 12 Mile.  Hope this helps.

I am not Jewish, but I got a lot of Jewish friends.? One of my constituents at work who is Jewish verified that for me today when I asked him.? Yes, smoked salmon is a Jewish delicacy and yes they are called Loks.? I guess that explains it when the Jewish people talk about having Bagels and Loks.? I don't know of any Jewish bass fisherman....at least not among the people I know.? I wonder if there are any Jewish members here on the boards.? I know of at least one Greek.? ME!!!!? ? And please no Greek jokes....I have already heard them all.? They are like old polish jokes.? ?;)

That is why I really like this forum.? It is educational.? I feel smarter already.? ? :o  Hey Dan, since Poorboy has "Poorboy's Playhouse"......Can I get my own section like him called "BigDog's Dog House"???   lol     ::)
