Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

will a texas rigged tube work better for weed fishing instead of a michigan jig if the weeds are thick? been throwing a "sponsors" jig but only caught 1 little rock bass on it. i tried twitching it as it's falling and walking the dog also but i can't get any hookups. i'm using 30 lb pp with a 10 p-line cxx leader with a 7 ft lightning rod. so i can feel the hits but am getting frustrated, i know the bass are eating gills and craws so why won't it work? any tips would be helpful..karol p.s.s it's dewart

Big dreams

I have found that in dense vegetation, Texas rigging a tube works better than the 90 and 60 degree jig heads.  You will miss out on the action as it falls but make up for it when it slides through the weeds.  Might want to think about pegging the weight if it is too dense.

If the grass is really thick a Texas rigged anything can be effective.  Tubes are a good choice but the fat profile can make them hard to get through the weeds.  I would recommend a beaver style bait or a worm.  Just because they are feeding on blue gills and craw fish doesn't mean they won't eat a worm if it is there.  This time of year a big worm can be good, try a 10" worm.

I agree with Cy, try a longer bait like a worm.

Tubes do best for me in weeds when the water is shallow, or when the grass doesn't "carpet" the bottom.  A worm will stand up a little taller, to be visible above the mass of weeds covering the bottom.

Don't be afraid of big worms.  I bought some 10 inchers for a trip to Alabama, found out they work just as well here too.

I find that when fishing weeds nothing workings better than t-rigged worms or small creature baits. Also try kustom kickers 2kfreak. That jig is so weedless it really surprised me! They also sell 2k freak nastys that are just the jig with a hook and you can really make a tube weedless with that

Google "Stupid Tube" its a way to rig a jig head weedless. Just be prepared to set the heck out of it when you get a bite, works well though and still falls like the traditional jig head.
