Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Just before the October Natural Resources Committee meeting on Thursday, October 9, Commissioner John Walters added an amendment to Fisheries Order 206 – “Bass - Closed bass CIR season from May 1 – Friday before the third Saturday in June for Burt, Mullet, Crooked, Pickerel, and Black Lakes and their connecting waters.”

2013 Cash for Bass Saturday Tour #1 - Lake St Clair, Harley Ensign Launch

34 teams participated in the first of five 2013 Cash for Bass Saturday Tour
events held on Lake St Clair. These events qualify for the 2013 Cash for
Bass 2 Day Classic on October 5th & 6th on Lake St Clair.

The Winning teams and weights:

1st Place - Dobson Greene      21lbs 14ozs
2nd Place - Esslink DiGiovanni      20lbs 4ozs
3rd Place - Sessink Henrich      20lbs 2ozs
4th Place - Modrak McCulla      19lbs 1oz
5th Place - Smartt Ryan         18lbs 12ozs

1st Big Bass - Esslink DiGiovanni   6lbs even
2nd Big Bass - Smartt Ryan      5lbs 3ozs

There were also Wild Card money that is drawn from the remaining teams
in the field at random. REMEMBER YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN THE WILD CARD MONEY!
There were several teams selected to win Wild Card money and they had already left!
So remember to stick around after the weigh-in and before the prize money is
handed out so you can claim the WILD CARD if drawn.

The next Cash for Bass event is Sunday July 7th! Launching out of Harley Ensign for
the Cash for Bass Sunday Opens. These events DO NOT QUALIFY for the Classic.
Just show up to as many as you want without worrying about making them all
to qualify for a Classic. Remember these are TEAM events.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

How is the Classic Qualification determined for the Saturday Tour.   Do you have to fish all events or is it a points system.  Since I missed the first one is that still a chance to make the classic.
