After a slow start yesterday morning, due to battery issues (which always sucks), my buddies and I finally launched out of Elizabeth Park at around 10:30 Sunday morning.  I was pleasantly surprised to see how high the water level was, after as low as it got back in e fall.

Plan A was to try a couple of spots just inside of the Lake for smallies.  Hit a couple of community holes (mostly just rockpiles).  After an hour and only one sheephead, we decided that it was time to switch to plan B, as the day was getting away from us.  Plan B involved shallow water around and near the Banana dikes for green fish.  Plan B proved far more successful, as Largies were layed up in and around the grass everywhere we searched.  We caught probably around 20 largemouth, and one more sheephead in about 3 hours.  We probably missed/lost another dozen fish.  During this time, we also saw dozens of gar pike roaming the shallow water and occasionally surfacing.

Most of our fish came on TX rigged tubes, with a few on cranks and rattle baits.  The fish were pretty aggressive.  They were knocking the snot out of our tubes, often as soon as they hit the water.  We ahd a few blow ups on frogs skimmed across the top of the slop, but no hook ups.

All in all a pretty fund day.  No giant fish, but most keepers in the two to three pound range with one over four.
