Yesterday at 06:36:53Just joined the forum — been into bass fishing for a while and lately have gotten deep into baitcaster setups specifically (gear ratios, braking systems, tuning to stop backlash, that kind of thing). Looking forward to learning from everyone here and pic

The poorly written, damaging to Michigan Sport Fishing commercial fishing bills have been introduced again. State House Bills 5801 and 5802, introduced by Rep. Dave Prestin and Rep. Jason Morgan, have been assigned to the House Committee on Natural Resources and Tourism.

This is a tale of two lakes. Intertwined lakes, in Barry County, Michigan. Where somehow the water has gone away. Upper and Lower Crooked Lakes, both near and dear to me, are suffering from the lowest water levels I've seen in the 35+ years I've been fishing them.

B.A.S.S. / Over 220 Boats B.A.S.S. Open o...
Last post by djkimmel - July 11, 2024, 08:07:20 AMI counted something like ~223 boats fishing the B.A.S.S. Lake St. Clair Open today. Lots of friends and fishing acquaintances in both the boater and co-angler side of things. Guess I have lots of people to root for!
I hope it's not super rough there today? Who is following along what is happening with BassTrakk? Maybe a few of you are on the big lake watching in person?
I see someone has already popped 20 pounds (Trevor McKinney I think?)! He must have been really ON them to have 20 so early in the day!
For some reason I thought they would have BASS Live for this one but I don't see it. Do they only do it part of the Open or am I confused about that?

Last post by djkimmel - July 11, 2024, 07:46:34 AMWell, I had to upgrade the forum photo gallery and it blew out all the permissions. Since I'm admin, I did not notice that only admin had access now! WHOOPS!!
I think I have it set now to all logged in members in good standing can see and use the gallery. If you are a Fingerling or greater (10 posts or more get you into Fingerling or higher) you can even have your own personal gallery.
Logged in users with less than 10 posts are in the Fry member group and cannot have a personal gallery. This is solely to avoid spammers from getting on and posting things we don't want to see here. I hope you understand, and just post away. Every post is appreciated. Everyone has something helpful to say.
Look for the Gallery link in the main forum menu to visit the photos. There's lots of photos there already. There are some size limits for images uploaded to the gallery.

There was a new permission I completely missed so no one except admin could add Shouts! I have it now to regular and special members can post shouts. If you're logged in you should be able to just type in the Shoutbox text box and then click the 'Shout!' button. It only works for logged in members. If you've tried and it didn't work I may have to check permissions. I did think I tested it previously. I'll test it again just to be sure. Thanks for asking.

I know there are a few books out there by divers about Great Lakes, and even Lake Erie, shipwrecks that can be interesting and valuable resources. I've fished a few and dropped video on them though more in St. Clair and other places than Erie.
Question: My automatic video embedder does not have code for Rumble. Do they by any chance have embed code where you could show the video right here? Or maybe you're prefer not to do that? Not a big deal. Just wondering. Thanks!

Last post by djkimmel - July 11, 2024, 06:40:48 AMNow, I haven't been up there in quite a while, but Torch in the summer at the south end has been a 'party' lake for as long as I've fished up there, while Skegemog is more of a 'fishing' lake. There's boat traffic during the summer on the weekend, but not the swarms like Torch.
The fun-lovers like the crystal clear water in Torch. Not so much the wood-stained water in Skeg. You should enjoy it though the fishing may be a little tougher in the summer. Of course, there's Elk Lake too. A few good summer spots out there.
