I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

I recently bought a 28cHD and it will not stay locked onto satellites. I have tried a new receiver antenna and it does the same thing. "Position Acquired"- "Position Lost" every few minutes. Anybody else experience this? I had a Lcx 19C in the same spot for 5 years without any trouble. Very frustrating!

Thanks for any input.

Buckeye,

I split this question into it's own topic from the original post.  Hope you don't mind, since it was a separate subject.

In your GPS settings, do you have "Require WAAS" checked? If you do, you could be getting intermittent signal and may be the reason for the dropped position. If so, turn that setting off and see if the problem persists.

Your Antenna is not to close to your reciever is it???  I have a buddy of mine that had his mounted to close..What he did is took the antenna off and moved it until he found a clear signal and then remounted it....I know it worked with the X-19 but maybe the new unit has a stronger output...Just a thought and good luck with your issue...One thing I had to send my LCX 27 that I run in the Bow back to Lowrance because it kept losing sonar signal..They where awesome..Contact Linda Colt..

Slipkey,

No, I don't mind you moving the question to a separate thread- I appreciate it.
No I don't have the WAAS required box checked. I know that technology isn't squared away yet. Thanks again!

Moto..,

Do you mean having the antenna too close to the unit? I believe the antenna is the receiver, no? Anyway, yes it is pretty close-not more than a foot or two apart. I will try to move it around to see what happens, but I'm not sure why that would be a problem. Who knows though, right!?

Again, thanks for the input!!

Yeah that is what I meant...I just did some checking and Lowrance reccommends 18 inches of seperation..So you should be good to go there..Can't hurt to move it away from the unit and try though..Also it sounds like Slipkey is right on with turning the require WAAS off..I haven't had any issues with my LCX27 or 28 as far as the GPS goes..The GPS puck is mounted on the Back deck of my boat and both units run off of the one 3000..I have require WAAS enabled, but I am going to change that.

Buckeyenut313

Moto,

It looks like the puck may have been too close to the unit. I extended the puck to the stern and it didn't lose signal once. I'm going to try it again tonight, and if it stays locked in I will be drilling new holes in my boat!

Again, I really appreciate the feedback!!

Thanks,
Randy
