Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

The Michigan Bass Invitational (MBI) is a tournament comprised of about 6-8 local clubs and it has been around since the mid 70's. No big money pots (there is a optional small money pot for big fish 25% and big stringer 75%), we just fish for plaques and a trophy. This year the MBI is on Half Moon Chain of Lakes in Washtenaw County on September 17, 2006, which is a Sunday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Membership last year was at 6 clubs. There is room for 2 (or more if one drops out) clubs to join this year. If anyone is interested in joining, they can contact Derrek from the Oakland County Bass Anglers (last year's winner on st. clair) at nitroderrek@yahoo.com. I'm the tournament director this year. Clubs interested in joining must be present at the MBI meeting on February 18th, 2006, at Gander Mountain in Ponitac, at 5pm. I hope to see you there, Derrek

Do you have to be in the federation?  We have a small club but we are not affiliated with the federation yet.

How many club members can fish in the tournament?

fishon1219

The field is for 4 teams from each club. That's 8 anglers. I am a member of Wayne County Bass Anglers and we have participated in this tournament since its creation. The history behind it was back in the old days when there was only a few bass clubs in the area there was a lot of "Our club has better fisherman than your club" so this tournament was created to decide it every year. The winning club every year gets to get there names on the trophy and bragging rights for the next season as well as decide were the event will be held. They are than considered the hosting club.It was always a fun tournament and we enjoyed being a part of it, but this year our membership decided that it just didn't fit into our schedule with our club tournaments as well as some of the other circuts our members are fishing. I would recommend the tournament to any club in the southeastern Michigan area as it is a good time. No Money on the line just bragging rights.
