Walking the Plank!
Add New Note
Previous Image | Next Image
Description: Because the water level fluctuates so much on the Amazon and its tributaries there are no shortage of steps up and down the huge sand and clay hills. The water can change every day if it's raining, even if the rain is a long ways off and you don't see it. We had lots of rain especially at night during the February-March 2012 so we fished high, fast water unlike the January 2010 trip when it rained one time at night. This is the mid-level of steps and our in town walking the plank to get to land. The boat is parked as close as possible to the hill and we walk the plank across to wherever the level of stairs is that particular day. It didn't change too much when we got back to town this time but a wet plank made for exciting trips ashore!
