Mast on the ground!
Add New Note

Description: The main limbs that came down in my front yard during Icepocalypse 2013 (starting December 22nd) were 30 to 40 feet long. The ends came down along the corner of my front porch bringing all my wires down under them. They also tore my power mast and meter off the side of the house, bending the 90 degree pipe out straight towards the road. You can just see the mast laying in the snow coming out of the middle of the left edge of the picture. My wife wasn't too happy that the tree branches slapped the top of her little pine tree off either. Might be the end of the little tree she's tried to save from several previous adversities. It was a crazy night and day. You'd be looking at the mess out front and hear the snap, craaassshh of something big out back. Run to the back only to hear the same thing back out front. Or off to the sides, down the street, on the next block, over the road. We ventured out one time in the car that first day (Sunday) only to have a large limb crash down in a neighbors yard, hit a wire and knock it down at us as we were driving slowly up our street dodging wood and downed wires. It looked like the wire was going to land on our hood! It stopped about 2 feet short of the roof of our car. Upon getting that 'closer look' at the wire, it appeared to be a cable or phone wire, not power but you never know... early yesterday (Friday) that same wire came down and is now laying across our road with the ends under branches on both curbs. There's a couple other wires wrapped through big wood piles on either side of the road just up from that one. We're not sure which kind of wires they are. And we're not going to take a closer look! The yellow tape is enough for us! :) We'll be happy when they're back up where they belong or gone, whichever comes first.
