Lots of sign-ups from the kids for this year's 2009 TBF of Michigan Jr state championship on Lake Nepessing (near Lapeer Michigan just south of I-69), Saturday, June 13. I'll be there but tournament director Brian Belevender says we still need 8 or 9 boaters to make sure all the kids get to fish.

This is something important and positive you can do for your sport of fishing and only costs you one day on the water.

Each boater will take out 2 kids - one from the 11 - 14 age and one from the 15 - 18 age group. The kids direct the fishing, but don't drive your boat. Some kids will want to run the trolling motor and some won't. The kids have to bring their own life jackets too and wear them at all times unless we get a signed waiver from the parents. Everyone still wears their jacket when the big motor is on.

There will be a lunch for everyone and awards event right after the fishing finishes at the tournament site on the south end of Lake Nepessing. I believe we are fishing from 8 AM until 2 PM, but you will get that information from youth director Brian Belevender.

Please help out. Contact:

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.
