I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

I'm going to buy some new trolling motor batteries soon and was wondring who has used what and how it was? I usually just buy my batteries from carquest (and they're still 125). I've thinking about tryin out gel, but are they worth the extra 100?

I'm going to upgrade to gel. At least the trolling battery. Heard they are the way to go. Hold charge longer, longer life. no spill.

This thread has been run before and I didn't reply, but I use the cheapest long lasting batteries available, INTERSTATE. They have not let me down and I pay under $70 each!

I have Cabelas AGMs and they were expensive but they do last. My trolling motor sucks since it it a 5 speed without soft start, just OFF or ON. With cheaper batteries I was lucky to get 8-10 hours but now they have been pretty good all day 12+ hours. If you found yourself running out of juice on the regular ones I'd say the AGMs are worth it.

I just put new Deka's in my boat last year, very pleased. Just had two replace 2 TM batteries in my dad's Pathfinder over christmas. That boat is an 02 and sees alot of use, I was suprised to learn they were the original Deka batteries we were pulling out of it. 7 yrs of hard use in the FL sun, I'm sold.

I dont remember who makes them, but the Minn Kota brand batteries have treated me pretty good.

REEL_MAN

I've been using the Delco Voyager for along time. They've never let me down. They have been lasting me 3 1/2 to 4 years. I recommend when charging you use a 15 amp charger per battery. (for any battery, it seems to extend the life of the batteries).

You're local West Marine sells Deka brand batteries labeled for West Marine.  If you want to talk about them and get the best price possible, give me a call Tuesday (I have Sunday and Monday off).  616-954-9822.  We have both lead acid and Gel in stock or readily available.'

I've been running them for 3 years now without issue.  I have 4 batteries in my boat... 2 of them are 3 years old and are still going strong.  The other two I bought last year when I stepped up to a bigger boat.

I use Complete Battery Source's house battery which is an AC/Delco wet cell.  I am going on my 3rd year with these.  They have been great. The guys at Complete Battery Source told me they are the same ones that Art Ferguson uses as well as Gerry Gostinek.  If they are good enough for those guys they are good enough for me.  They run about $90 apiece.

And Dan is right.  This thread has been run before.  I ran this thread about 2 or 3 years ago when I was shopping for trolling motor batteries.  I also agree with Dan.  I try to use the cheapest longest lasting batteries I can find.............and they have never ever let me down.  I think running anything more is status and not usefulness.  Just my 3 cents.
