I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

With regard to fishin in the rain, not thunderstorms, is it productive?  Or is it best to stay in and stay dry?

McCarter

I say fish in any and all safe conditions.  You will learn.  And fishing in the rain can be very good for many reasons.  One of them being that run off from rain creates current, which almost always turns bass on.

I would much rather fish in the rain then on a windy day! I absolutely hate trying to fight the wind!  >:(

I agree with both of you.  It has done nothing but rain since Friday, and I am getting a little tired of staring at my gear - yes, I keep it in my living room; don't judge me.  I am getting cabin fever.  It sets in fast with me.

The fish are already wet. They dont care :)

Fishing in the rain can be very good, if you are like most of us and can only fish on our days off you go regardless of the conditions within reason. Do yourself a favor and buy some quality rain gear if you plan on doing alot of fishing this year or any tournaments, you will use it a ton even on big water on nice sunny days.

Tim, we have more days off than days on.  I have rain gear - swim trunks!

If you're talking about runoff, you must mean that the bass will move into shallow water?

fishing in the rain isn't bad...pretty cool perspective on the water once in a while.  get caught in the middle of St. Clair during thunder and lightning, tends to get hairy....but just rain is fine.  i can't say as i've had a bad day of fishing in the rain, as far as numbers are concerned.

Haha that would make for a looooong miserable day if you were out on a boat in the cold, wind, and rain for 12 hours in swimming trunks. Thats true for the last 4 months I have not been in that "if you are like most of us" group and thats why I have been out 25 times already this year. Hopefully that will change very soon or it will be one long boring season sitting in my house.

At least it's looking better and better weather-wise the closer we get to Sunday.

Rain, sleet,snow,100mph winds ive been through em all this year already. I dont really mind it but i love it when its nice but you gotta deal with it. plus im not the sharpest tool in the shed.prolly explains why ive been zapped twice buy lightning. didnt get struck just grounded out.. couldnt let go of the rod.. i wouldnt recomend that. and dont wear flip-flops when its lightning they dont ground u out too well.

I got a little chuckle out of that.  If I had my own boat, I would be out every day.  I would settle for a 12 ft. aluminum - or an empty bathtub - right now.  I hate being limited to shore angling, but if that's the way it has to be while I am in school, so be it.  Kalamazoo offers a couple half-way decent spots to fish from shore.

TCook

If you have a little extra money do like me and fish draw tournys as a co-angler and hook up with guys through places like this site  ;D  Being boatless really sucks but the next best thing is fishing from the back and its still very worth it. The amount of knowledge you gain from fishing with alot of different guys is endless and will improve your chances of success when you make that jump to boater.

Id second what Tim said..plus hes a little sniper out the back of the boat hes obviously learned alot from fishing with alot of people.

It's hard to do all of that while being in school...student loans aren't meant to finance bass tournaments.  Are they expensive?

Rain's not all bad, better than wind any day and twice on Sunday!  I caught a couple nice fish in the sprinkles/rain earlier this morning from a "local" pond.

My wife and I were campground hosts at Ft. Custer and there is some decent shore fishing in the smaller lakes in the park plus the K'zoo runs thru there and the smallies in the bend hardly ever get pressured - especially when it's raining and people are staying dry inside! ;)

I do have a girlfriend - and I'd rather have the fish.  No one has seen Kristan around here, have they?  Good.

I have heard good things about Ft. Custer.  Between the fishing, hunting, and hiking, it sounds like I really need to get up there sometime.
