Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Just before the October Natural Resources Committee meeting on Thursday, October 9, Commissioner John Walters added an amendment to Fisheries Order 206 – “Bass - Closed bass CIR season from May 1 – Friday before the third Saturday in June for Burt, Mullet, Crooked, Pickerel, and Black Lakes and their connecting waters.”

Detroit River Open – Sign up today!

Early Draw ends June 1st for Saturday June 21st Event

There is still time to get a great boat number for the upcoming Detroit River Open.

For those anglers who decided to enter early you'll be rewarded with being one of the first boats out at this year's event. If you haven't entered and want a great boat number you still have time to get in on the early draw. For those anglers who entry forms are received on or before June 1st they'll be the first ones out at this year's Detroit River Open.

Its fast and easy to join. All you need to do to register for this upcoming once a year Detroit River Open extravaganza is register on-line or mail the form below into NBAA. We're expecting to fill this field so secure your spot and send in your form right away.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

The entry fee is $150.00 per team (includes Big Bass). I'm pretty sure that you can pay at the ramp, but you might want to call first, to verify. The phone number is at the bottom of the page.

For you anglers who just can't get enough of the hot Lake St Clair action. The following day there will be a NBAA One on One Super Qualifier launching out of Harley Ensign. You will need to be a member of NBAA to compete in this event and the entry fee is $60.00 which includes big bass. Check in will start at 5:00 am with take off at 7:00 and check in at 3:00. Cash and plaques will be awarded at this special event. The top 20 places plus a wildcard will qualify for the One on One National Championship at Muskegon Lake on August 24th.

So come out and join the fun and make it a great weekend on the east side with the Detroit River Open and the One on One Super Qualifier on Lake St Clair.
