Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

The weather doesn't look great but I'm thinking of hitting Kent in the morning. Anyone been out there? Is the water up enough to move around safely? I just finished making prop repairs from my last venture in November ;D

The lake is still in winter draw down.  The park ranger I talked to this week said it will be up the weekend before the opener......at least that was the plan.

I'm not expert on Kent Lake but this is what I think I know.

When they raise the Dam back up, I've been told the water level rises about an inch a day.  This of course is subject to rain fall.

If you travel the expressway I-96 going west, you can watch for the large rock along the near shore, just north of the overpass.  When that rock is close to disappearing under water, I can launch my boat at the East ramp.

But to be totally accurate, I have a 16' boat.  If I had a boat that was a little longer, I think it would float off of the trailer without me having to back my truck so far into the lake.  A sometimes risky business w/o 4 wheel drive.

So much water.  So many lures.  So little time.

I have been out there a few times and have seen a few other bass boats out there with no problems so go for it.

Use the east ramp, far right ramp (as you are looking at it). All of the others are too shallow. I may see you there if you are there around 12:30.

Well as long as the wind is under 25mph and there is no lighting I'll be there mid morning. ;D Look out dogfish!!

Durand Dan

The cold, the wind, the rain, being the only boat on the lake today, Priceless ;D
( Well not really. It cost me $44.00 for my yearly permits)

Speaking of Kent Lake.....if any boaters that live by me on the eastside wanna share ride on the 26th I will be more than happy to chip in gas money just send me a message and i'll send you my phone #. I live in Roseville right by the I696 I94 interchange.

just drove through and the water looks like it is almost back to normal.  even a few boats out fishing.   ( gar or gills ) i figure.   water did not feel to cold.   walked a little of the shore but did not see any beds or even little fish.

anyone been out there know the water temp.

Durand Dan

Last Sat. it was 52.5 to 54 degrees. I would think it would be close to 59 to 60 now.

Flippin222

I was there last night. Water temps were anywhere from 57 to 59.5 for the most part. They should be slightly warmer after today. Good call on the temps.
