Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Thanks to everyone who made it to the seminar despite the snow warning--I think we had 55 show up!  I tried to keep it simple, yet informative, and still fit it in the 1 hour time allottment.  Sometimes I have a tendency to get long winded  :D

JVD actually used the 797 to find the spot on the spot on his key structure in the tournament down in Florida.  He was telling me he found the hump, then circled it using side imaging, and found a woodpile and weed patch on it which ended up being the key spot.

If anyone has any questions on Side Imaging or Humminbird in general, feel free to it post or PM me.

Thanks,

Bryan

Wish I could have made Bryan's seminar, it sounds like it was very informative. I am not surprised that Jonathen's 797 played a big role in his success. Its very clear to me that humminbird's Side Imaging Units is a must have to compete now. I have read on other sites that these units are such an advantage that most guys that use them dont even like to talk about it so word does not get out. Basicly trying to delay the inevitable to keep an advantage. When it comes time for me to get my first boat I will have extra funds saved to get one of these units for sure.

can't afford one? i just heard nancy pelosi was gonna send all us married guys 1200 bucks!.... +300 per kid..... hmm...... the 797c2 is $850.......

I thought Congress would have sense enough to e-mail the husbands about this money instead of plastering it all over the news

I finally made the decision to go to the 997si. The only problem I see is tha the unit is so wide I'll have trouble mounting it on my console. So I talked with my rep here in northern  indiana and he said to use a RAM mount, so what's another $45. Hope I can save enough by the first tournment. The new units have the new internal transduce switch so I can have the shoot thru and the external si transduce. Didn't ask if there is a remote temp sensor I can put in the live well like Lowrance has, Bryan P. is one available? It's only money and you can't take it with you so spend and enjoy.

Reel_Man, yes you can get livewell temp.  I sent you a PM.

Also, the Ram-111 will work, but I'd recommend the bigger one (2 1/4" ball--not sure what the model # is)

We went to Vics Christmas party and met the rep for humminbird. We were very impressed with the SI units. He had pics of a submerged car that had fallon off a bridge in a very muddy river. The car was found by an angler with a SI unit. He took the GPS co-ordinates to PD and his images stored on his unit. He was able to zoom in with the SI to see a partial image of the Plate. Turned out it was of a lady who had been missing for over a year. They said she had a stroke and drove off the road. So much for SI. I Don't know if I would have belived it if he didn't have the pictures. I'll Havto do some serious kissing up to spend that tax money Nancy was talking about to get an SI on our boat. Problem is she'll want one for her side of the boat.
