This is a tale of two lakes. Intertwined lakes, in Barry County, Michigan. Where somehow the water has gone away. Upper and Lower Crooked Lakes, both near and dear to me, are suffering from the lowest water levels I've seen in the 35+ years I've been fishing them.

any one know if they is any place around there to fish? May be spending 10 days down that way next Oct on a bow hunt and just might drag the boat along just in case.

thanks
Bill

Truman Reservoir used to have a great reputation for bass fishing, and then there's the Lake of the Ozarks. A little drive South from where you are staying but might be worth it to have the experience of fishing two famous lakes??

Three smaller reservoirs to the E / SE in Long Branch, Thomas Hill and Mark Twain. Don't know much about them but heard they have bass and crappie. There are some tiny reservoirs closer and sometimes you know those can be sleeping gems only the locals know about. Might be fun to adventure a little bit on new water?

Wonder what fishing might be on the Locust Creek and the Grand River to the W / SW? Locust looks small but I like rivers.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

Hey Bill, I asked a friend from St. Louis about your trip. The following is what he sent me. Let me know if you'd like more info on Twain.

Nothing real close Jeff. Both big reservoirs up there are about a 100 miles away from Linneus. Mark Twain lake is a great crappie lake and has a decent bass population and spits out some good ones every year. Smithville reservoir I know very little about but I hear it's good for bass. I used to fish Twain a bunch though

thanks for all the info guys. Not sure just when I am going yet still waiting to hear from the lease down there. If I don't get in down there we may go on a pig hunt in SC instead. just waiting to hear back from them now.
