Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Has anybody been on the Half Moon chain recently? I am headed there this weekend and would like to fish Hiland but I have been told that due to high water some boats have not been able to get through the pipe at Hankerd Road. I don't want to waste a trip all the way up Heck Creek if I can't get through, my time out there will be limited.

Thanks in advance

Willie
Peace.
It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.

I have not been there for about 3 weeks.  At that time, the water level was up, I thought, about 18" above where it had been most of the summer.

If you only want to fish Highland, you can launch there instead, and save the trip down the creek.  It's dirt/gravel, but it is do able.  If you're launching a bass boat though I'd want 4 wheel drive just to be safe.  I lauch my 16' aluminum V bottom there with no probs.  I don't have a 4x4.

The Highland launch is the other side of the Half Moon entrance from North T.  I don't think it's a mile farther but I could be wrong.  It is just the other side of the bridge where the channel from Half Moon goes under the road.  It will be on your right hand side coming from North T.
The launch is found at the end of a gravel drive that is perhaps a 1/4 mile long.  I might be making this sound worse than it is.  But I've launched there several times.
So much water.  So many lures.  So little time.

Thanks for the reply Fiker. I know where the launch on Hiland is . I have launched there many times, but never with a 20' bass boat. It's not a great launch by any stretch of the imagination but it is alot better than it was when I was a kid. Me and my dad used to launch our 15' Wolverine there. I can't tell you how many people we pulled up that hill with his CJ-5. It used to be ALOT steeper.

If I can't get there from Half Moon it won't do me any good anyways. The Avid Open on Oct. 7th launches out of Half Moon.

I didn't know you were in a tourny.

I still haven't been on Half Moon, but the Portage chain just down the street has high water.   The land side of the dock is just barely under water.

I was on Halfmoon on Labor Day.  I was able to get through the tubes to Hiland Lake in my 19ft Champion as long as I had all the seats in the lowest position without removing them from the deck.  I had plenty of room.  I didn't think the water was up any higher than any other time I have been there.
