Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Anybody have any reports for Ford Lake? I will be there the 22nd.

Assuming you are talking about Ford Lake in Ypsilanti. I live very close to the lake and fish it frequently. I was out there maybe a week and a half ago and the lake was going through its annual "algae bloom" in which the lake turns to pea soup with algae and is very disgusting. I usually stay away from the lake for a while when this happens usually in the late summer. If I get out there before the 22nd I'll post something up here to let you know how it's looking. Hopefully it has cleared up by now. If you do get out there and it's still like that, pull out and drive a few miles down Textile road until you hit Rawsonville road and turn left. There is a DNR launch to Belleville Lake right there. Even though Belleville is connected to Ford Lake it doesn't get that bad with the algae so it is a great backup which I've used many times. Actually in my opinion Belleville is a better lake but that is for a different topic.

Hope this helps a little.

Thanks, our club fishes Belleville for our 2 day event. Some of the guy's fished Ford back in july and loved it. Now the club wants to fish Ford as a group then probably next year fish Belleville one day then Ford the other. Hopefully the alge is gone by then.

Algae still bad on the west end of the lake.  The whole lake looked pretty green.  I caught three keepers near the launch off of docks.  Didn't catch anything west.  Good luck.  The lake is not there yet.  It will get really good when the water temp drops through the 60's into the 50's.

Yes that lake is GREEN. Caught all my fish off boat docks near the west end. When the sun came out and the Alge started multiplying it was thick as paint and we still caught fish in it. I broke off about a 3 lb. smallie that was almost to the net then decided to make a hard run and wrap me around one of those grounding cables that are around the docks. I don't know how those people that live in those condos deal with the smell of that alge though, it is nasty.

Right around this time it is a hard lake to catch...late spring/early summer is the best time to fish there(almost always will catch something).I'm there almost every weekend...due to can't afford gas to go anywhere else so i'm sticking close to home.I always fish around the north hydro park(redid the whole park now).

I have fished this lake for 20 years.  I think this lake fishes best in the fall when the water temps drop from the 60's into the 50's.  I have 20 years of data to prove it.  I have kept a fishing log on every where I have ever gone for the last 20 years.  My data shows that the numbers and the quality is best in the fall.  My data also shows that Belleville is no different.  That is not to say that the spring and early summer are good, but data shows that it fishes best in mid to late October.

I might try to get back up there one more time this year. I would appreciate a report when the action heats up, the lake should be about ready to turn over with this cooler weather. I'm gonna need 1 more trip to hold me over till spring, it's gonna be a long winter and I got a late very start this year due to family concerns.

Is there a certain spot the fish hold?I spend alot of time by the north hydro park...and i can't find anything much anymore but small ones.

Skulley

When they are holding somewhere they tend to hang in the old river channel.  On the edge of the old channel there are stumps and fallen timber.  The channel goes through the whole lake.  In the fall, the points on the south side of the lake get hot.  The bass come up and chase shad and feed the optimal water temp is 48 to 55 degrees.
