Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

I'm not trying to rush winter. I'm sure some semblance of winter is on the way. That means we are approaching the 2026 Ultimate Sport Show Tour - the three biggest fishing and outdoor sport shows in Michigan!

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

I was at last year's DOL with Wayne, and I had an absolute blast!  I got to fish with Mark Hill, and when Wayne got on our boat, we went right into some good fish!

Unfortunately, I'll be coming home from a trip to Asia that Saturday, so I'll miss the event entirely.

Shane, I nominate you to take my spot as a non-boater.  Whadyasay?

Where are you guys launching at on the 18th?  We have club tournaments on the 18th & 19th down on St. Clair, wondering if we'll run into each other?  8)

Hi Blake,
Since it's a Saturday, we'll likely be launching out of Harley Ensign.  I like the cutoff ramp, but on Saturdays it's swamped with recreational boaters who are just plain scary to be around at a ramp.  ;D  Maybe you can hook up for a late lunch with us after the tourney if it works out.

I'll be there as a boater - I am not sure this is a DOL with Wayne though, I need to get that confirmed.  the fish should be channel bound by then, and even small boats would be fine for finding fish in the channels at least till the tuna boat parade starts around mid day.

Sorry guys, as of right now I'm scheduled to work.  If anything changes I'll post back.  Have fun!

I'm in. I can go both ways boater or non. If your planning fishing North or Middle channels then I would suggest we launch from the North channel launch. If you want to fish further up the St. Clair river then I would suggest we use the Marine City launch.

Big boat race in the SCR on the 18th.  Not sure if launching in the river would be the best bet???

http://www.drtruax.com/chriscraft1.htm

Revtro

From the looks of it, that race will be in the river up at the head of Russel Island.  Is that what you're reading?  They mentioned a DQ and I know there's one on the water right there by the boardwalk.  So there are 2 ways we could approach our day.  We could fish the channels, launching at the N. Channel ramp and fishing everything South of where the race will be held.  Or if we want to fish Fawn and Stag, we could launch up in Marine City way North of where the race will be.

well the only problem i have is I would rather not buy a canadian license, if there is a boater that does not have a canadian license and would rather not buy one is there a possibility of us boating together?? I'll buy one if i really need to, but I know i won't get down there again this year so it's kind of wasting some money

Revtro

If we fish the channels, you could fish the North, Middle, and South except for the East side of it and be in all US water.
Tom  <><

MIBassKid

Do you mean the east side of all of them? or just the south channel?

Revtro

Only the East side of the South Channel and up in the St. Clair River are in Canadian water.  The entire North, Middle, and Sni are all US water.  The west side of the South Channel is also US water.  If we were to fish Fawn and Stag, you'd really want to have a Canadian license because at least 80% of the areas that tend to have good fish on them are in Canadian water.  At least that's been my experience.

I think our best plan of attack would be to launch either at Harley or the N. Channel ramp.  That way if guys want to run to the channels they can or just fish the lake.  If the channel bite is hot, then the N. Channel ramp would be our best bet to save gas $.  BTW- I have been up in the channels quite a bit and there are lots of fish already there for the taking.  They're smaller than I'm used to seeing up there but I think we're still right at the very beginning of the whole channel thing.

There is an Ontario one day license available also for $16.36.  I'm guessing that that is in Canadian funds, but I'm not sure.
