FOM 7/22 Grand River results and Whitelake dates

Last Saturday was much more than another Fishers of Men Tournament. It was a day when a father and son made a special memory, one that they will remember for the rest of their lives.

Don and Alex Watts one of our Adult Junior teams came in first with big bass honors for the second time this year. Don whacked another nice 4.66lb smally to capture big bass on their way to an impressive 15.25-lb victory.

The memory comes from what I witnessed in my weigh in basket, a lively largemouth with missing scales and a torn up side. Alex set the hook, Dad got the net and suddenly the fish was hung up, Hung up on what they believe was a record catfish around 100lbs that had swallowed the largemouth. They seen the cat several times and tried to get it in, eventually Jonah (The largemouth) was spit out and made it safely to the weigh-in.... Thank You Fishers of Men!!!

Fishers of Men would like to welcome our newest team Derek Cummings and Doug Craft. Thanks for coming out of retirement to fish with us Doug. They took home second place, 2nd place big bass at 14.93lbs / 3.40lbs and a set of 9 ballbearing Okuma reels compliments of our newest sponsor DICKS Sports in Muskegon MI, thanks Jim.

John Shafer and Jeff Jamerson caught a limit and are the current points champion, way to go guy's!

All teams who have competed in three or more tournaments will be eligible for regionals at lake Wissota in Chippewa Falls WI.

The fishing, food and fellowship were great. Everyone left with some wonderful gifts. The message on Friday was about choosing the right path in life, much as we choose our lure selection. Everyone had a discussion about how Cancer has touched our lives and several families. We prayed about our needs and asked for healing and protection. Enclosed are the 1-4th placements.

The next tournament in our Fishers of Men series will be held 8/4/05 at Whitelake in Whitehall Mi and connecting waters. The meeting and launch will be at the White lake DNR launch on the north side of the lake. Friday's meeting and cookout is at 6:30 PM. We will be set up in the parking area. I believe there is a $10 launch fee.
