Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Driving over to the DK open I pick up my traveling partner for the day and noticed he had an Ipod set up in his vehicle and I do too. Made me think that more of you may also use mp3 players and if you are like me I sometimes just want to listen to something other than music, like a fishing show!!  On Itunes, or I should say at their online store you can peruse the free podcast downloads. There are several good ones on bass fishing. Bob Pops and one I just downloaded today by Aaron Martens on Versus call Bass Edges, The Edge. Listened to the first show today and I was impressed. Very well done and some good info. They cover several topics. Today's was on crankbaits, and a product review on a "Lock Rod." They also have several other topic areas that they include in each show. I think this first show was 50 some minutes and they range from 40 to 50 minutes. Once you download the podcasts you can also burn them to CD. Anybody needs one burned and doesn't have the hook up let me know and I will burn it for you. Can't legally burn a bunch I wouldn't think, but they are free downloads and so if they are free to download I wouldn't think burning a few for yall would be legally offensive. I bought an FM transmitter that plugs in to my cigarette lighter and it broadcasts my mp3 stuff through the radio of my car. Works pretty good if you can get a clear channel away from stronger channels. Near Detroit they may not work as well because of all the stations but on my way up north it works great. Just thought I would give an FYI on the technology.
Any of you have any experience with the "Lock Bar?" It's a bar that fits across your boat that prevents thieves from accessing your storage boxes. Cost around 160 bucks.

I've been burning CD's of Bass Edge myself for the trips to and from work. There are also good interviews with pros at BassFan Radio: http://www.bassfan.com/radio.asp. Since it's hard to get two Bass Edge episodes on on CD I usually fill around them with stuff from BassFan.

On my mac I can't seem to figure out how to save the radiocast or put it in a form that I can put it on my Ipod or on a cd. Got any ideas?

Unlike podcasts which download a file to your system, a radio cast is just a stream.  So the easiest way on a Mac is probably to use Ambrosia's Wiretap Pro.  It can record any audio going on in your system and save it as a file you can import into iTunes.  I don't know of any other way to "save" a radio broadcast via iTunes.  Wish there was though.  However, I think you'll find Wiretap to be a very useful and simple tool to use.  Think of it as a "screen capture" for audio information instead of graphics.
