I've got an 89 johnson 110vro and I noticed what looked like a bit of oil leaked from where the lower end meets the top and dripped on the ground. It wasn't a lot but it does have me concerned. I read it could just be excess exhaust or carbon but I'm not sure so thought id ask here. Im not sure how to post a pic otherwise I would so you could see what I'm talking about. Any ideas??

Generally shouldn't be any leaking. Is everything tight? Have you changed anything recently as far as oil, lube or gas?

Have you run it recently, and did it run okay? Prop seem on correctly and not wobbling? See any fishing line in the hub? (Good check anytime even if it's not related) If you turn the prop does it spin freely, no noise, grinding or sounds of loose parts?

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

Some older Johnsons leak oil if it's not burned off prior to storage.  Talk to Lockmans on Jefferson near Zug Island.  They have been in business for many years and are great people to deal with.

A friend of mine had a similar problem with his old Johnson.  He took it to another repair place.  They diagnosed that he needed a new oil pump.  After the new pump it still leaked oil.  He called Lockmans.  The  lady on the phone told him that older Johnsons do that.  She suggested that he rev up the engine a little before shut down.

Problem solved and it cost nothing.
So much water.  So many lures.  So little time.
