Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

mojo,
gander mountain has a guide series rain suit that seems to be comparable to the bps pro qualifier's.  they aren't gore-tex brand, but the set i bought only ran $180 for a set, not each half like the bps stuff.  seem to be pretty nice, kept me dry last Sunday in the wind and rain.

Another good option is the lightweight HPR GoreTex stuff from BPS.  It will keep you just as dry as the expensive suits, but it won't keep you warm.  And it's way, cheaper.  Just dress in layers under it and you'll be just as dry as if you had the ProQualifier stuff.  They're both GoreTex.

Portage, IN Bass Pro has Frog Toggs for $39 on sale until the 18th I think. For a summer weight rainsuit you can't beat um. I have a 100mph suit for when it's cool and frogg toggs for the summer.

Just a follow up - I took some great advice from this blog and checked out the Gander Mountain Guide Series. - $170 for what seems the perfect dry suit. Broke it in up in New Brunwick CA fishing for Salmon and trout (loaded em up !) and I was told it was very cold rain and windy two of the days but I didnt know it. Warm as heck in a pair of polypropylenes and normal clothes under the gear !

Was in the torrential downpour Saturday at Kent. In the back of the boat, leaning over, (retie knots) fishing etc in a horror show of a rain storm. Again - dry as a bone.

I would really recommend this set if someone wants to stay under $190.
