Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

From Kansas going to Sturgeon Bay for the First time in October, any advice on catching smallmouth up there would be very much appreciated.

6 lb Smallmouth

Never fished there at that time of the year but I could help you out with what I know.  Whenever we fished Sturgeon Bay, we ran to Little Sturgeon Bay, Snake Island, Riley's Bay, and Sand Bay which is off Green Bay and about a 15 mile run from downtown Sturgeon Bay.  There's a better launch for fishing those bays and it's at Sunset Bar and Grill which is also a nice place to grab a sandwich and a beer.

Personally, if I was going up there I would go up the peninsula and fish around Washington Island.  Good luck.

Nothing beats Great Lakes Smallmouth!

Washington Island area might be better - watch the weather - but I imagine the same rock bars in Little Sturgeon Bay half way out and near the mouth that work in the spring should work in October. Might be even better just outside Little Sturgeon Bay and to the South. From shallow rocks out to the drop and then to the first deep flat if the water is already really cold.

There may be bass on the deeper weed, rock, gravel flats in Sturgeon Bay too. I know I caught some bass in mid-September of deeper rock/gravel patches out towards the main Green Bay in Sturgeon Bay.

Eagle Bay would be another place to try.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.
