I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Belville lake is a wonderful impoundment on the Huron river. It can be a challenging lake at times and at other times you cant keep them off of the hook. There is just about every type of structure you can think of out there. Boat docks, points, channel bends, weed flats, riprap, underwater road beds, you name it, it is there.
Smallmouth are usually what wins tournaments out there, but at times I have seen some big sacks of largmouth take home the 1st place check.
The time of year ABA is fishing it I would guess it will be smallies that will dominate. Most guys will start running the shorelines with crankbaits, flipping tubes, or throwing senko style lures and that is probably how the event will be won.
It is a fun lake to fish and when things warm up give me a shout and it would be my privilege to take you out there and show you a few things.
I have no friends so I am always looking for fishing partners.

Fishon - I think Josh mentioned you were an acquaintence of his once.  That's close to having atleast one friend isnt it?  8)

CS - Belville can whoop your butt or treat you like a king.  If you do go with Fishon, keep your eyes on the sonar for a brand spanking new spinning combo right on one of the creek channel bends near the first point west of the launch.  Tons of smallies in that impoundment.  Beat the docks with a tube for a good fun day of catching 13.9999's.

This is what Belleville is good for:

Belleville is actually a fun lake to fish...besides the big carp you can catch on tubes and hula grubs (seriously), you can catch alot of largeheads in the shallow West end and nomadic herds of smallies that are there one minute...and gone the next :D.  There's also a really good population of BIG crappie, some decent walleye fishing, good channel cat fishing and some Tiger muskies.  Maybe BigDog can share some of his Local knowledge with us...
Jeff

McCarter

Jeff, you could catch a carp in a laundry tub on a tube of toothpaste.  You truly are the Carp Master!

Belleville?  Whos idea was that?

McCarter himself :-\'

I have fished this lake relentlessly for the last 3 years and I can say that it has patterns that can be figured out fairly quickly if you seperate the east and west ends at the denton road bridge. the smallies on the west end have a tendency to act somewhat like LM from time to time. The large mouth in the west end should not be overlooked!!! there is a ton of cover and depending on the weather prior to the tournament and the amount of "partying boaters" in one paticular area the LM get easy to target.

Good luck to all that fish it should be a pretty good time.

Anthony Adams

I've never been on the Lake either.

McCarter volunteered to hook me up with all of Jeff C. spots so I should be all set ...  Just kidding Jeff

I am curious to see how this tourney turns out

If anyone wants to show me around on the lake I wont turn down any advice.

Anthony Adams - As your director I believe in promoting the enjoyment of fishing to all. I encourage good sportsmanship and preserving of natural resources. I strongly encourage all individuals regardless of age, race, or gender to be more involved in the world of fishing

Good luck with those...I hope they work out better for you than they do for me :D  Leave me a couple carp if you'd be so kind...

Maybe that is why Brian was so eager to share ....

I probably fish Belleville, Ford, and Orchard more than anywhere else because I can get to those lakes in 30 minutes during rush hour after work.  Belleville is extremely seasonal as the fish are always on the move.  One does not fish the same spots in the spring that you would maybe fish in the fall.

In the spring most anglers go west.  In the fall, the lake balances out as the east end begins to turn on.  In the heat of the summer most fish come out of deep water using jigging spoons are usually the ticket in 20 feet of water.  I have had to go to a 4 inch finesse worm on a 1/16 ounce jig hook to put fish in the boat during the dog days of July and August in 20 feet of water.  Patience....lots and lots of patience.

I would agree that smallies usually dominate, but if you know where the bucketmouths hang out.....you can really clean up.

I will say this..........I have gone out there and really caught them good.  Then the very next day or evening, I have gone there and not caught a thing.  A run and gun approach to fishing the lake sometimes can be the best approach.  If you catch one smallie in an area, there are always more so you would want to stay there.  The day you fish there, pray for rain so that the boat traffic doesn't muddy up the lake.  And hope that it hasn't been raining for two or three straight days so that the lake isn't muddied up.  That lake gets a whole lot of pressure.

The lake is difficult to pattern and it can change very quickly.

I am afraid Belleville will be a jackpot tournament It would be suprise if the winner fishes two other tournaments I put my money on either Mike R out there or the almighty belleville freak Tony Y that is as long as Seth doesnt fish it  Unfortunatly I do not think that any of our ABA regulars really stand a chance out there.

This is just my opinion though I know that Brian thinks that maybe it will have others join our district but if they join and just fish one tournament I dont believe it does us any good.

It would though of been really intresting to make a lake like this the lake we fish for our 2-day event No jackpotters and a lake that would be kind of new for us all.  By the way this lake sucks in the summer anthony you can fish with me all day any day outthere but the area that I would fish so will most the other boats.
