Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Co-anglers are not allowed to have more than five rods, one tackle bag and one foul-weather bag in their pro's boat on any day of competition

I saw this in the Everstart rules...I thought it was interesting that they put this in there...I usually only bring 4 rods and a bag if I fish out of the back of the boat on big water but like a couple of more on inland lakes....

Nothing in the BFL rules.......

It wouldn't break my heart if they did this across the board..Only allow boaters 5 rods and a bag of tackle..Kind of like Golf restricts clubs..My boat would be alot fasterl.. ;D

I think it is a good rule...Your thoughts...

I have this one guy I fish with, (really nice guy), but everytime I invite him to go out on St. Clair or Erie, I tell him "just bring 2 spinning rods, 1 for dragging tubes and 1 for drop shotting. Bring your lunch and rain gear. That's all you need. Don't even bother bringing tackle. I have a whole store in the boat and have every thing we will need." Everytime he shows up with 6 rods a full sized army duffel bag with rainsuit, parka, and who knows what else. He also bring a tackle box that is literally the size of a small refrigerator and a medium sized cooler. I'm at the point know that it doesn't bother me because I know to expect it. Any time I have to move around the boat I have to craw around this stuff. I feel like I'm moving him, minus the UHaul, everytime we head out.  :D

If I was a co-angler, that could possibly be known as the 'Dan Kimmel' rule... but I have also drawn people who made me look like a 2-rod, small lunch bag of lures guy. I once drew a guy who brought 4 of those 'tool chest' tackle boxes they came out with about 15-18 years ago. I was using my friend's 361 Ranger - the boat that had the first standard built-in raised, extended front deck.

The tackle boxes filled all the floor space so that we actually ended up with a one solid 'deck' from the bow to the stern. I told him I had no choice in walking on them since the only other floor space was a little under the dash. The funniest part was that this guy was a jerkbait fanatic who mostly only threw one color of one type of jerkbait 90% of the time!!! ;D

I've never been that bothered by anglers bringing 'too much' stuff. I sure have bothered some other anglers with what I've brought... oh well. Like I've said more than a few times, they say it takes all kinds...

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.
