Late season smallmouth fishing

Deep Football jigs & blade baits have been best for me with late smallies

Picked up a couple nice smallies on blade bait and shorty spoon last evening in the hour i got to fish.

Caught 20 bass and 5 rock bass yesterday at Manistee.  Wish you could fish a blade bait there... just too much wood on the bottom of that lake to fish it effectively (or economicaly!).

Hope to make one more trip next Monday.  Weather looks good so far (but long range forcasts change by the hour this time of year!)

I got out for a few hours before putting my boat away yesterday.  Water was 45 degrees and fishing slow, but we got a few green fish.

If it's not too windy and it's not raining on Monday, I'll be making my last trip out (well, that's what I'm telling Juli anyway... LOL!!).  Cold and snow are not an issue.  Wind an rain WITH cold and we'll stay home.
