In recent posts some have seen me agressivley seeking the 2007 schedule and I want to make it clear that I dont mean it to reflect in any way negativley towards ABA, Actualy quite the opposite I want to make sure I can fish with them.
I was introduced to competetive bass circuits at 9 years old by my father in large team tournaments(WON BASS-west coast), I have been fishing tournaments for 29 years and have fished many organizations and private clubs with many different tournament directers.

The ABA and Anthoney Adams have a great trail, I met ALOT(all) real nice guys and the events were run in a friendly and professional manner and I would definitley say that fishing the ABA has been some of my better experiences in tournament fishing.

The ABA is a great organization to fish and if your a newbie to tournaments or a non boater and looking to fish tournaments I highly recomend the ABA!

Anthoney Adams is willing to help any body and every body and strives very hard to do the best he can for seemingly little to no reward and the same can be said for his girlfriend Jay helping him and us.

In 2007 Brian Mc Carter is the assistant tournament directer and he also couldnt be a nicer guy.

Anthoney has had a couple hold backs in getting the schedule out partialy due to securing launch ramps but he has all fantastic lakes on his tenative schedule and 2007 will be a fun year.

I am eagerly waiting to fish my next ABA tournament at kent lake in may.

any idea when the schedule will be posted??  even tenative, to tease us.  i see quite a few other trails are posting there events on LSCN..   looks like there will be pleanty of choices again next year.

Skip Johnson

I spoke with Anthoney last night he has the ramp permits for kent and detroit river and is still working with DNR to get the rest and should be posting them right around the first of the year.

He has a great lake plan for 2007, he was talking about
kent and or cass for the paper tournaments in may, I would like to see an additional paper tourney at st clair I will have to ask him for one.
saginaw bay in the first week of june and then I think another june tourney at st clair.
He went on to mention that theres a detroit river/erie planned a wixom combined with doug wards district 67 planned a lk nepressing and I think a few others including another on st clair and the 2 day championship on st clair.

Be patient the schedule will come out soon and it will all be good lakes at the right times, I just wish spring would get here soon.

no mention of belleville.  Whats a co director gotta do to get a belleville tournament put on the schedule.  I have begged.  I have pleaded.  I have promised to name my last child after his great grandfather, Jebediah Sebastions Adams.  I really, very strongly believe that if he put Belleville on the schedule we would gain a bunch of new members.  Oh well, maybe 2008.  I will keep trying.

I am not doing this for me, as i know he suspects.  I have only fished belleville lake 4 or 5 times, and only had success twice while fishing with people who know the lake.  And even then, it wasnt like it was great success.

But a lot of guys have mentioned this to me, that if we put belleville on they would fish our trail.  People like that lake.

Calm down poorboy Belleville could very well be on his schedule!

All I realy know guys is that theyre all going to be great lakes at the right times and AA is combining district 69 with district 7 to get a bigger field!
A bigger field and 100% of the small entry fee increrase($15) going towards payouts there will be ALOT more money on the table for us this year.

Im just busting Anthonys chops guys.  I know he will see this later and call me to explain.  I always give him a hard time about belleville.  Its kinda an inside joke between us.

Shaner,

You guys only had 3 members at that tourney becuase it was a new district.  I would have been there and im sure plenty of other guys would have as well if there wasnt another ABA tournament scheduled that day and JD had gotten the word out sooner.

How much did he pay ya for that????????

I also would have fished Belleville if there wasn't another ABA event that day.

Do you have to join B.A.S.S to fish ABA?   I like Belleville also.

Skip Johnson

No you do not have to join B.A.S.S. to fish ABA.

I have been fishing Belleville for 20 years.  There are times when that lake is the best and times when that lake is the worst.  But the challenge is being able to consistantly put fish in the boat out there.  That lake also fishes different in the morning than it does in the evening.  I am surprised that someone besides me actually likes that lake.  I go there a lot during the week because it is easy to get to after work.  During rush hour I can still get there within 30 minutes.  I almost joined ABA last year because they were on Belleville the first week, but ended up going to the annual opening day tournament on White Lake up in Oakland County.  That tournament is put on by Mitchell's Bait and Tackle on Duck Lake Road.

I used to fish this one too.  Last one i fished was in 05.  A friend of mine talked me into it.  He screwed everything up tho.  He got the start time wrong, so we made it just in time to launch the boat as they were lighting the starter bottle rocket.  Then, he screwed up the weigh in time.  So we were back in the canal just north of M59 on duck lake rd until 1 pm, when we came out there were no boats on the water.  Then our other friends called us and said we missed the weigh in.  It was pretty funny, not.  But we didnt have enough to compete with the BROWNS anyway.   Brandon Brown is one of my best friends.  His uncle Brian wins the tournament just about every year.  Bran fishes with his dad, Donny, and they are usually good for 2nd place.  But between them, Brian, and Clem it is hard to cut a check in that event.

I have cashed a check or two in that.  A few years back my partner and I actually won it.  Last year I weighed a small limit.  I don't know what I will fish on opening day this year.

There is usually a big tx on pontiac lk opening day. Avid bass puts it on usually has a good turn out. That is where I have been the last few years. Then the 2nd day there is a big tx on kent put on by oakland bass masters I believe. Haven't fished that one but am thinking about doing it this year if I can find a partner for it.
