Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

How did the Ken Purvey Last Chance tournament go on Cass? ?Haven't heard.

MBell

I heard 10lbs, and only a few limits.

I think Dobson and Carolina Chip won with around 10 pounds. I think Doug Ratliff took 2nd. I think they had the only limits. One team had 4, and then a bunch of 2 and 3 fish catches (cameraguy and I had only 2 keeper smallies we caught early in one area and thought were found the school... apparently 'the school' consisted of only these 2 fish ;D)

The weather was great - I've never seen waves that big and choppy on Cass before. Pretty impressive. We even took a few waves over teh sides of a 20 foot bass boat! We caught a total of the 2 keepers, a dink smallie and a barely keeper-sized walleye all day. Worst I've done out there in years.

I have to think if I could have gotten VinceR to hang out around us, or at least come back every 20 minutes - we would have won because I caught both of my bass the two times he fished by us. The only two times! 4 or 5 more times and we'd have had a limit!!!

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.
