I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Anyone know what kind of adhesive to use on reel seat? I had one come loose on a rod yesterday at the dk open, I set the hook and the reel seat  turned. I checked with st croix's web site and its $20 return shipping, so to send it for warranty work it's gonna be around $35. It seams simple enough to just glue it, do I need to remove the old glue or can I just glue it?

Simply use some 2ton epoxy like devcon.  Sold at wal-mart in the paint section for about 2 bucks.  Just mix the two parts evenly and really well.  stuff will hold forever.  Besides that is what is used to put handles on rods in the first place.

I dont blame you for wanting to fix the rod yourself.  But take this into consideration.  You spend the money on  a rod like a St Croix, or a G Loomis, or an Airrus for 2 reasons:

1) QUALITY

2)  WARRANTY

If you fix this problem yourself, you might save a little cash, but you are now voiding the warranty on that rod.  SHould you have a problem in the future or the rod fails ( breaks ) you are out.  I have seen St Croix and Loomis deny warranty repairs and/or replacements just for putting new tips on, or new guides.  Anything done to the rod outside there facility will possibly void your warranty.  Just something to think about.

$35?????  They must have raised the price again.  Last time i sent a rod back, it was $20 ( $10 to ship, and a $10 money order to cover return shipping )

I have a loomis bronzeback and the tip ceramic came out. I was just going to get a tip but I think I had better send it in. Anybody got the address to where to ship it?? Guess I could google loomis and it should tell me.

I called st croix today and the service tech I talked to said to use a 3m 2 part epoxy loaded into a veterinary syringe to squirt it under the seat. He said as long as I don't poke a hole through the blank it will not void my warranty, guess I'm off to TSC.

Dan:
same thing happened to my bronzeback.  Just call them with your model # at  1-800-456-6647 and ask for a rod tech - they will send you one or two, and put it on yourself - to avoid postage and the warranty fee - the tip is not worth $20 plus shipping.  You need to get the replacement tip from them so as to have the right diameter for the bronzeback model you have.  Good luck!

Thanks Jack. I had googled Loomis and sent them an email and they told me just what you had said. Thanks for the come back though.
