Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Just recently I have been having problems posting, and to a lesser extent, jumping to other topics. When I hit the post button or try to jump to another thread, my screen goes completely white and I have to use the back button and try again. I just tried to post on another thread and I tried 5 times unsuccessfully. I figured it was time to ask for help.
Peace.
It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.

I took one set of code off that I thought might be a problem causer and things seemed to get much better for about a week. I've noticed in the past two weeks things suddenly started popping up. I wish I knew why. I don't have any errors related to this in the logs.

Lots of vulnerabilities and updates going on right now and maybe something isn't fully compatible at the moment. I'll look into it over the weekend and see if I spot anything. SMF has been pretty good about updates so far.

For now don't press the back button. Press the REFRESH button instead. This usually loads the page or update. It may ask you to press a Retry button. You can do that. I have not seen any corruption or loss in the data.

This works much better and you don't have to retype or repeat your actions that way 99% of the time.

This could be a server/ISP issue too so don't be surprised if there's some surprise downtime. The last two times, I had no warning from them - it does sound like the one time at least was an emergency/failure. I will do the best I can. I like things smooth and working too.

The issue seems to have improved quite a bit and I haven't changed anything. It may not be directly in my control.

I did read up on it for about 3 hours last night - I found some similar issues, but most involved installation of things I don't have. There were some issues reported with certain settings, but I don't have any of those settings checked.

I'll keep looking into it and think about how to test certain code to see if a difference is made - assuming it is code instead of a server issue. I can ask my server host if they have any ideas too.

It would be helpful to know who is having what problems. The most common thing I saw was that Internet Explorer has a bug in how it writes an html page - it builds the whole page and then displays it - it is during the display part that the problem happens.

They say that Firefox builds and draws the page a line at a time, so it doesn't have the same bug. Doesn't help a lot when most people still use Internet Explorer.

The only fix right now for that problem is a code change that can crash IE once in a while. Not an ideal solution, especially without knowing if that is the issue.

Anyone else having any problems? What is the problem and what browser are you using?
