The poorly written, damaging to Michigan Sport Fishing commercial fishing bills have been introduced again. State House Bills 5801 and 5802, introduced by Rep. Dave Prestin and Rep. Jason Morgan, have been assigned to the House Committee on Natural Resources and Tourism.

This is a tale of two lakes. Intertwined lakes, in Barry County, Michigan. Where somehow the water has gone away. Upper and Lower Crooked Lakes, both near and dear to me, are suffering from the lowest water levels I've seen in the 35+ years I've been fishing them.

I am moving back to Michigan from Florida and I was wondering what artificial lures/worms work well and in what color in the Wayne/Oakland county area. does anyone have any tips for me so i can come out there and really get on those largemouths?

McCarter

Watemelons and Green Pumpkins ;)

KLK is a hot color i hear, but you can only get it from Nemesis Baits! 8)

McCarter himself :-\'

Mojo

 ;D

Have you no shame B ?

Just a basic run down here so everyone else add in the holes:

Spinnerbaits:

White w/ touch red or blue checker / nickel blade brighter - clear & sunny over weeds ?

Chartruese touch orange / white checker / copper blade  - stain / in weedy / overcast ?

Worms:

Green Pumpkin w/ red / purple / gold fleck... some combo

Cranks:

Similar to Southern conditions but think you are in 65 70 degree water not 80 or 90, maybe your spring colors ? Blue Gill are just finishing spawning ?? Im weak here so others can help.

Jigs:

Black - muddy/ stained / dark
White - tall weeds - 3/4 ounce punch mats
green pumpkin w G3 colored trailer-  most applications
Brown - rocks, beach edges

Tubes:

Canadian Mist purple
G3 Purple / gold flake
Green Pumpkin / black flake
Green Pumpkin copper flake

Soft twitch / Fluke / Swim

White                   clear
Green / orange       stained

Thanks Dan for bringing year round Catch and Release to Michigan

Hey, no purchase necessary but it would be worth your time to browse my www.xtremebasstackle.com website to see what colors in soft plastics have survived and been improved in over a decade's worth of research.  The bottom line is that everything works, but some things work better.  There are also early season, spring, summer and fall strengths and weaknesses to bring into account.  Hope this helps.

BASSASSINATOR

thanks for that detailed rundown, that is going to make this a really smooth transition, i appreciate it.
