This is a tale of two lakes. Intertwined lakes, in Barry County, Michigan. Where somehow the water has gone away. Upper and Lower Crooked Lakes, both near and dear to me, are suffering from the lowest water levels I've seen in the 35+ years I've been fishing them.

The Tin Man Stays on Top

You can call him the Tin Man because he runs an aluminum bass boat in a fiberglass world. Or you can call him John Cox. Whatever you call him, the Florida pro might be known as the 2016 Forrest Wood Cup champion come Sunday if he can maintain his pace going into the weekend on Wheeler Lake.

Cox backed up his day-one catch of 16 pounds, 11 ounces with 15-10 today to move his two-day total to 32-5. Cox leads current runners-up Jacob Wheeler and Michael Neal by 6 pounds, 7 ounces. Both Wheeler and Neal had big days today with 17-9 and 15-12, respectively.
