This is a tale of two lakes. Intertwined lakes, in Barry County, Michigan. Where somehow the water has gone away. Upper and Lower Crooked Lakes, both near and dear to me, are suffering from the lowest water levels I've seen in the 35+ years I've been fishing them.

hi guys, saw some of poor boys baits and noticed they have a belly slit like the slug-o's. do you use a wide gap hook to fish these and then a screw on worm weight or are there special jigs for these?

what lb test line do you use for these also?
what retrieve method would you recomend? do i need some more boxes to store these or stay with my combat tubes ;D

sorry for the questions- time for bed..karol

I have seen several of the swim baits that have the belly slit and you just use a wide gap hook much like a soft jerk bait.  But I believe they are generally fished pretty much just under the surface, but I guess you could weight them with a conventional bullet type sinker to get them a bit deeper.

Also I believe they are most often used with a pretty steady retrieve much like a crank bait.

Poor boy's have there own hooks for there swim baits. They are weighted with various different sizes. The weights are positioned so that the swimbait goes through the water correctly. These baits are top of the line and worth trying out.
When you are in any contest you should work as if there whereto the very last minute a chance to loose it.

Site sponsor Mike's Rx Baits probably carries these - check him out - ad on the left or Mike's Rx Baits.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.
