Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

I saw the DNR restocked Maceday

On 3/21 they added 150 lakers and 10,000 Splake and on 3/28 they put 12,000 Rainbows in
They did this a couple years ago as well

I'm thinking the bass have to be eating those Trout. They splake and rainbows were a avg of 7"
Perfect size for a Huddleston swim bait

It's going to be my new fishing agenda to try and catch a lunker on a large swim bait

Team houston

I'm just curious, why does Maceday get so much attention?

Manxfishing

I'm not sure why it's the DNR's pet lake these days in Oakland

They have stocked other Oakland Co lakes in the past with Trout and Salmon
Orchard used to have Browns and not to long ago Cass had Pink Salmon stocked in there

djkimmel

Not too many lakes in Oakland County that can hold trout for any length of time. Good bass food! :D

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

Dan,
There is a good number of deep glacier lakes that are spring fed
Problem now days is the lawn run off and the weed kills
Maceday is 117' in the deep hole

But I agree the 7" splake and rainbows are protein rich fish sticks for the Bass
I couple years ago after the last stocking I did hear of a 8 pounder caught there

djkimmel

How many lakes are deep enough and spring fed (have oxygen below the thermocline)? I can only think of a handful.
