The poorly written, damaging to Michigan Sport Fishing commercial fishing bills have been introduced again. State House Bills 5801 and 5802, introduced by Rep. Dave Prestin and Rep. Jason Morgan, have been assigned to the House Committee on Natural Resources and Tourism.

This is a tale of two lakes. Intertwined lakes, in Barry County, Michigan. Where somehow the water has gone away. Upper and Lower Crooked Lakes, both near and dear to me, are suffering from the lowest water levels I've seen in the 35+ years I've been fishing them.

Elites On Wheeler

Just finished up my stint of three days as a Marshal in the Elite Series Lake Wheeler event. Great three days. Rode with Dennis Tietje on Day 1, Jason Christie on Day 2, and Davey Hite Day 3. Watched the weighin today and Tak really slayed them on the Decatur Flats. Not very far at all from the take off spot.
Always some kind of back story and this event didn't disappoint. Luke Clausen was selected randomly from the weigh-in line. He was reported to have failed the polygraph test in regard to the no contact rule during the off limits. He appealed the decision. So, awaiting the appeal, he fished today, but so did Cliff Crochet who finished in the thirteenth spot. If Clausen wins the appeal then Crochet will go back to 13th place, but if Clausen loses his appeal he likely will be DQed from the tournament and Crochet will move up to 7th where he finished today.
This was the third year that I Marshaled on Wheeler. I feel I know it quite well now. Next winter I plan to haul the boat down for a month or so. Took lots of pics, but it's too much messing around to post right now. Maybe later.

Well don't you just have some stories to tell!

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

I don't think any of these smallie guys want to hear about swimbaits, shad spawns, and transitional fishing. All the southern anglers want to hear about the fabled northern smallies though.

Will be waiting to read your reports.  Always enjoy them.
