Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

I got out Sunday for a few hours. I managed a few but it looks like I may be done for the season since the storage place is filling up fast & I don't want to wait much longer. Fishing shows/videos & online shopping for fishing stuff gets me through the winter. I usually plan a steelie trip in March & a few trips south in April to help break things up. Here are a few from yesterday:

Fishing was pretty good on the Portage Chain over the weekend, both the largemouth and smallmouth were biting well.

Hit St. Clair on Sunday for about five hours.  I launched out of Harley around 10:00AM and went looking for bass.  Went all over anchor bay and couldn't find a single bass.  The musky were sure easy to find though.  The two that surprised me the most was 32" musky on a bladed jig in front of Belle Maer Marina, and the other was a 40" on a texas rigged craw next to the break wall by the Harley launch.  Not sure why the are called the fish of 1000 casts.  I seem to find them every 300 or so ;D ::)

They are the fish when you least suspect them (or are using something expensive or trying to get your bass or I shouldn't have thrown a lure to that spot) on Lake St. Clair.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.
