Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Fished Grand Traverse Bay (East) this last Saturday and Sunday.  Weather was awesome, wind was dead flat.  A friend had been up a day early on Friday, said fishing was slow and only managed 7 for the day.

We started out early, heading over to SE corner.  Marked a ton of baitfish/perch in 30 – 35 FOW.  Started out dropshotting.  Noticed bait fish breaking the surface out from the boat, threw a crankbait over that way and bam, picked up a nice 5.5lber.  Thought we might be on to something but fished that same general area for a few more hours, with only a second fish to show for it, on a drop shot.  My buddy had been fishing the west shoreline of the East bay and doing ok, so we decided to head over to that side.  Spent the rest of the day on that side and ended up with 21 fish for the day.  Most of the fish on the west shoreline of the East bay were smaller, 1 – 2 lbr's, all on drop shots, 15 – 30 FOW.  Saw several fish, some small packs, water was crystal clear, flat calm, most were locked right on bottom.

Saw Charlie Hartley at the boat ramp on the way out.

Back to the hotel that night, went online and saw the post from TheFishingPollack with his cell number in it and to give him a call. Gave him a call to check how he did and to share info.

Our plan for Sunday was to run north up to Mission Point, fish the Point as well as the Mission Harbor area.  If that didn't pan out, we would then fish our way back down to the launch.

Headed up to Mission Point, started fishing north of the Point.  Lots of pretty bottom to look at, no fish.  Moved back south, near entrance to Mission Harbor, set up shop and fished 15 – 30 FOW.  Caught some nice fish, 2 – 3 lb's, nothing over 4lb's.  Saw KVD fishing while we were in the area.  Moved into Mission Harbor to scout around, saw lots of fish crusing the drop offs.  Several packs.  Moved back and fished our way south.  Lots more 1 – 2lber's in the same areas as Saturday. Ended up with 24 fish for the day.

Water temps both days were between 61 – 66 degrees, depending time of day and location.

Seems like the best is yet to come as the water continues to cool down.

Tight lines.

Wags.

Great reports.  Couldn't complain too much about the weather.  Charlie Hartley was taking part in the Fish with a Pro charity program as was my brother.  My brother fished East Bay in the afternoon and had pretty much the same report.
