Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Just before the October Natural Resources Committee meeting on Thursday, October 9, Commissioner John Walters added an amendment to Fisheries Order 206 – “Bass - Closed bass CIR season from May 1 – Friday before the third Saturday in June for Burt, Mullet, Crooked, Pickerel, and Black Lakes and their connecting waters.”

Due to low water levels on the Great Lakes, particularly Lake St. Clair, the mouth of the channel at the Michigan DNR Clinton River Cutoff ramp needs to be dredged.

Wonderland Marine West is proud to announce the 16th Annual Wonderland Marine West Open Bass Tournament on Sunday, August 3rd, 2014. We are returning this year to Lake Erie Metro Park giving the opportunity for anglers to run in either direction, as Erie was hot last year. Please see the attached flyer for more info. Flyers may also be downloaded from the Wonderland Marine West web page, or picked up in person at the store. We will start accepting entries Monday, June 2nd, 2014 at 9am. Blast off numbers are determined by the order in which entries are received. Any questions are to be only directed to the tournament director, Ralph Blasey at ralph@wonderlandmarinewest.com or calling the store at 517-548-5122. We look forward to seeing everyone there.

Just a reminder to all that the Wonderland Marine West 16th Annual Open Bass Tournament is this Sunday, August 3 out of Lake Erie Metro Park. Both Lake Erie and St. Clair are really starting to turn on as the fish have moved into their summer haunts. You can enter by calling (517) 548-5122 or stopping by the store. Entry is $275 per team up until July 31rst., after which it goes up to $300. Entries will also be accepted at the mandatory pre-tournament registration there on August 2nd from 4-6pm.
