I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Couple pieces of information I want to pass along to members and regular visitors of GreatLakesBass.com.

First of all, you can't hide your legitimate email address from me even if you block other members. I may not know who everyone is, but I do see all email addresses, and everyone must register using a valid email to get the activation link that

Similarly, I see everyone's IP address they use to visit this board. You can sign up with different usernames - I don't have a rule against that - but I will know when you are the same person as another member name by comparing the IP addresses.

Both of these are an attempt to attract like-minded anglers to our forum, while keeping out the troublemakers.

2nd: I can not read members' private messages. If you are a having any problems with someone in PM, you will have to click the 'report to moderator' link if you do have a problem someone.

You can add member names to the ignorelist box on private messages options in your user profile, and you will not get PMs from that user anymore.

Also, do not click on reply in an email notice about a new PM if you have that enabled in your profile. You just delete the email notice and come here to read the new PM(s). If you hit reply to any notice email, your reply just goes to me since I (the forum) sent the original emal.

Just file this under tips and good things to know. Thanks,
Dan

So, you mean to tell me "people" create alter egos here?  ;)  I never would have guessed it   ::)

fowlmouth

Is that so they can talk to themselves, convince themselves that they are right, or are these nefarious sorts trying to mislead us?

I have seen on other boards where people start talking about something and the next person with an opinion on it is always the same, always made me wonder. Some people just have too much time on their hands.

I don't care if people have alter egos (although some egos probably don't really fit on this small board ;D), but I do care that people do NOT mislead members here for negative reasons or because they think it's fun. Or to try to stir up trouble for no positive or productive reason.

Those people would hear from me privately if it continues, and if that doesn't work, they may be asked to leave.

This has been a pretty easy forum to moderate and I DO appreciate it greatly. I just want to keep it that way. Thanks!

Sea Ark? Just don't start talking about Jacques Cousteau...

I can only imagine your PM's. But really, if anyone harrasses anyone here including in PMs, please let me know asap and I will do something about it.

I can't read member's PMs myself directly, but if you use the report to moderator link I will follow up.

Before I do anything, members can always use the ignore list to stop someone's PMs from getting through.
