They are setting up starting today for the Sport and RV show in Grand Rapids. I tried to find the post Kimmel did with the directions, but quit looking and started a new thread. Drove around the DeVos today taking a look at parking availability. You can park under the DeVos and directly across the street in a Governement Lot for "$6.50 per event." If you go north of Michigan on Monroe (Michigan is the street with the big hill that leads up to the hospital. You can spot it from afar because of three sky cranes that are set up.) there is meter parking on the street. Those meters allow you to park up to ten hours for $.25 an hour. Sometimes on the weekend they wave the meter parking, but I don't have the scoop on that. If you go south on Monroe, (Monroe is the street the DeVos is on) and turn west, right, onto Pearl and go across the river and turn right on Scribner there is a lot there that has event parking for $4.50. The Scribner lot is right behind the Gerald R. Ford Museum and is underneath the expressway. Other than that there are lots all around downtown for various prices, but the ones I mentioned are the closest. For food, the deli in the DeVos isn't the greatest. Right across the street from the entrance to the DeVos is the parking ramp, if you look just after the Fifth/Third parking sign there is Taco Bobs. They have good food and it's cheap. Two tacos, beans, rice, chips, and a pop is $5.03 and the options and prices go up from there. If you are in the show or a vendor you can call for delivery at 616-458-1533. They take all major credit cards. Mr. Kimmel has some coupons for Taco Bobs if you decide to go. They also have a coupon in the Grand Rapids Press which they give away in the show. I will also have a pocket full if you see me at the show. If you are a coffee fanatic they have a Starbucks and Beaners at the corner of Monroe and Pearl.

The DeVoss sits on Monroe between Lyon and Michigan. (The street name Michigan ends right at Monroe. If you continue west on Michigan past Monroe, the name changes to Bridge St.

Here is a quote from the Grand Rapids City web site regarding parking meters.

Parking Meters are enforced Monday through Friday from 8 am until 5 pm.  Parking Meters on Monroe Center are enforced on Saturday from 8 am until 5 pm.

Parking meters are free after 5 pm - unless they are marked as enforced.

Most meters have hours of opperation posted on them.

Monroe Center is the walking and driving mall that runs diagonal from the corner of Pearl and Monroe to Divison and Fulton.

I know that most of you are familiar with Grand Rapids but if you have any questions feel free to ask me.

Went down to the show today and walked around and chit chatted with a buunch of folks. Was impressed by a guy in the Outlaw Rods booth. If you have a chance you should take a look. Very sensitive and he bends them almost in half as if a big smallie is taking you under the boat and they are tough. He also demonstrates how sensitive. I was impressed. Lifetime $50 replacement no matter how it breaks. If it breaks he said just saw it in little pieces and send it back in a big envelope with $50 and you get a new rod.  Bought some of Wayne's tubes and x worms. Picked up some funky colored bright bed tubes at Snack Daddys. Looked over some new Bass Cats and bought some stuff at the Coleman booth. Tomorrow I am going to get one of the new Doug Hannon reels from Mac Bass at Phoenix Rods. Looked for their booth but never found it. Looked it up in the program for tomorrow and now know where to go. Saw Lt. Dan as he made his debut arrival. He was already looking a little tired. Looks like he has dropped some weight. A shadow of his former self. Parked for $.25. They have meters on the west side of Monroe and across the river where you can park 10 hours for $.25 a hour. Found a meter that had over 3 hours left so all I needed was a quarter because I wanted to be home by 7 to watch the State game. They won. Any GLB guys there tomorrow I will have one of my Tear Drop State Team fishing shirts on with teardropbass.com on the back with an orange AXFishing hat on. Hope to meet some of you there.
