anybody use the BPS or the Minn-kota? Bass Pro has both on sale and am wondering if one would be better, thanks guys

I just bought the Minn Kota 3 bank charger from bass pro...Haven't installed it yet, but it looks like a good unit...If you buy the Minn Kota make sure you get the mail in Rebate coupon...It was something like 25 dollars for my charger.

REEL_MAN

Don't look at just cost.  Check the AMPS per bank., Most of the chargers are 10 AMP but if you want your batteries to charge faster and last longer go to a 15 AMP per bank. Minn Kota's 345 charger has the 15 AMP per bank. I attribute the 4 years  ;D ;D on my Delcos to the stronger charging.

I just realized the "cheap" ones are 5 amp per bank, that ain't gonna work for me. I can't believe they would sell many of those, must be walleye fisherman or somethin'

Hey, while we are on this subject I have 3 batteries in my boat (2 troll 1 crank) I am in parrallel (12v) do I need a 3 bank charger? Last year I used a portable charger, + on 1 battery - on the next  and it worked fine for me. Would it be bettter to have a seperate bank for each battery so they can each charge at their own rate? If so, then would I need to disconnect the parrallel before charging?

REEL_MAN

one bank for each batery is recommended. Using a remote charger is a hassel but will work fine for the cranking battery.

At least 15 amp per battery is the way to go. Charges faster, which is important for bass fisherman. After being out all day, you want to charge them for the next outing. I have a 15 amp Dual Pro. I had a  10 amp Dual which took all night.

I have the 3 bank Dual Pro also and it works great.  But shoudn't they call it the Tri Pro?  Anyway, it's been working fine and I run it all winter.

any body run one on a 12v system? If I have my batteries run in parallel wouldn't it be redundant to have a bank for each of these 2 batteries?
