Inland Waterway Bass Fishing Closure Defeated

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Just before the October Natural Resources Committee meeting on Thursday, October 9, Commissioner John Walters added an amendment to Fisheries Order 206 – “Bass - Closed bass CIR season from May 1 – Friday before the third Saturday in June for Burt, Mullet, Crooked, Pickerel, and Black Lakes and their connecting waters.”

Someday, I will get to more secret lakes. It sure isn't easy living in a state with 11,000 lakes 36,000 miles of river surrounded by the biggest freshwater system in the world!! But I will make the best of it! ;D

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

Gonna be at my cottage in traverse city on bass lake. But gonna probably hit the bay or one of the many others.. Any suggestions? I know a couple good ones

Open invite any time still stands! All you need is a ride to GR and a couple of rods. I should have the rest. ;D

Yeah. I know. If they could just shut off the Internet for 8 or 12 hours... that would help as long as it was prescheduled. ;D

@ got fish. Ive never been to clam lake. Almost stayed on lake bellaire there this year but it fell through. Im on the west side of Traverse City Bass lake. By long lake and silver lake. I usually stay in that area or interlocken. Alot of Bass lakes in michigan
