Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Tonight, I received 3 documents outlining a new plan from BASS for the federations that they say is worth $4 million in new commitment to the federations. There's enough to it that I won't be able to get it posted for a couple days or so.

It sounds a lot better than how things sound like they went at the meeting.

I hope all decisions are made with clear heads.

Michigan can't change anything without a vote from the club presidents anyway.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.
Unless clearly stated as such, opinions expressed by Dan Kimmel on this forum are not the opinions or policies of The Bass Federation of Michigan.

vote????  Remember this is the new BASS.  There's not going to be anymore of that democratic crap going on here!!!!     ;D

Before you respond.......please realize this is sarcasm and not my personal view.  Actually, when the article(on BassFan) began describing how Bassfan was making an offer to the Federation to leave BASS, it lost a lot of "news" credibility.  News, IMHO, is supposed to come from a source with no vested interest in either side of the story.

That was a little odd, but I don't think Bassfan wants us to leave BASS, just give us another news outlet (and of course gain 35 - 40,000 loyal participants possibly).

There have been mixed comments from BASS staff about what we 'can' and 'can't' do with other entities. Looks like BASS is coming around to a less confrontational stance, which is needed.

BASS may or may not say we have a vote on things they do at the national level, but for the actual Michigan federation to leave BASS and/or 'join' someone else would take a vote of the club presidents. The Michigan federation board of directors can't do that themselves.

the FLW proposal is all laid out on Bassfan.com...the following article indicates Michigan will have until March 1 to decide which direction we will go...the MBF Presidents meeting on Feb. 5th should be a wild one..Hopefully each president will have talked to their members by then and described the differences between proposals.
