I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

I know most of you guys are from downstate, just wondered if anyones been up north fishing yet. Im sure Burt/Mullett is getting fished. Blakstr1 have you been out on black at all? Just wondering.

I'll be up there in two weekends (barring ridiculous gas prices) to practice for the BFL on June 10.

How's the water looking? Are the bass waiting for me??

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

I was out on a small crappie lake up here (Central UP) on May 7th.  Water temp was 50-53.  The lake also has a large population of (mostly small) largemouths.  Got 5 crappie, and a bunch of incidental largemouths.  Things were on the verge of getting good.

Then the weather changed for the last two weeks - Sideways rain, sleet, snow, wind, clouds, frost, etc.  Was out camping last weekend for the annual walleye/beverage-abuse weekend, water temps were back in to the 40's.

Weather is really turning around this week, so hopefully by Saturday, the bass should be up and active.

Good luck to all for the opener - UPBert

Thanks UPBert for the UP update. I think you are our sole connection to everything that happens in the UP. A big responsibility I know. Maybe you can get a few more of those UP guys to sign up and share the load?

Hope winter finally leaves for you ASAP!

DJ - I'll try to post once in a while about the bass fishing up here.  Most people chase those spiny little walleyes, or slimy trout!  Bass fisherman can be tight lipped - maybe it is the lack of computers/electricity!  (Just kidding about the last comment...)

bc - the flowage can be awesome, don't get there as much as I used to, but the last time I was there (a couple years back) the water was up, and the bass were up in the flooded willows - what a riot!!!  I think the power company sold the land around the flowage, not sure what the future holds for the campground.

Best of luck to everybody this weekend, and be safe!

Sadly I haven't been out fishing much. I should be hitting the water pretty hard shortly however. Glad to see someone from the UP has signed up. Best of luck to all this up coming weekend and have fun.

Dan

I am still waiting for my Stay N Charge.  Be two weeks Friday that I ordered it and so the boat has been a lawn decoration for several weeks now. First tournament Sunday on Cadillac and Mitchell and then the weekend after that Classic Series opens on Muskegon. Never fished Muskegon and need to get some prefishing time in. Cadillac and Mitchell gets pounded this weekend and we fish Sunday after two tournaments fish Saturday. Looks like some retread fishing unless we can find some out of the way spot that was overlooked. Maybe Saturday will be windy and make bed fishing tough. Water temps are not really up there yet so there won't be a ton of fish up yet. Should be happening soon with this warm weather and the moon phase coming round, get it. Will have an article on Cadillac and Mitchell on our teardropbass.com website as soon as I can get round to it. 10 more days of work for me and then retirement.  Some real fishing time opens up then!!
