Ultimate Match Fishing Question

A buddy of mine said he was watching a show yesterday that was on the Outdoor Channel just before Ultimate Match Fishing. The show had anglers using some sore of paste they made to put inside the mouth of a bass that was bleeding badly. They said the paste would stop the bleeding. He missed the part of the show where they talked about what this paste was comprised of. Did anyone happen to catch the show? Did they also discussed livewell care. I know that thread has gone through GLB before, but it is always a good one to have yearly just to keep us up to date and the new guys introduced to what they should be doing in the fish care area. It's like a CPR refresher. That's especially apropos since the fiasco where A. Martens killed his fish on Lake Jordan by adding too much ice to his livewell. F.Y.I. Never drop your livewell temp by more than five degrees from the water they came out of or you endanger your fish. Got to carry a livewell thermometer.

Studies I have read in the past say 10 degrees difference quickly can be critical to bass.

I didn't see or hear about the paste deal. You don't know what show it was even?

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

Only that it was on just before Ultimate Match fishing. I just heard that in that show whatever it was, that they poured a Sprite down the gullet of a bleeding fish and it helped to stop the bleeding. Something about the sugar. ??

Hmmm... not sure about that one?? I'd have to talk to a few biologists and I can only imagine some of the responses I might get... I wonder if Coke Zero would work too?

I did not see the program but my TV schedule said Reel Outdoors with Joe Thomas was on before UMF.  Hope this helps.
