This is a tale of two lakes. Intertwined lakes, in Barry County, Michigan. Where somehow the water has gone away. Upper and Lower Crooked Lakes, both near and dear to me, are suffering from the lowest water levels I've seen in the 35+ years I've been fishing them.

How can I get a Canadian license, and have it sent to my house?

djkimmel

I assume you are talking Ontario - call 800-667-1940.

Can take 2 or 3 weeks at times though mine was less than 2 weeks. There will be an extra charge for the new Outdoors Card too if you don't have one yet. They're good for 3 years if I remember right.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

Lakeside in St. Clair Shores should be able to get you one in a day or two if you need it quicker - 586-777-7003.

You can get it immediately from the ferry in Marine City.  But another place is the BP at 9 Mile and Jefferson.  If you order it on Thursday, you will have it on Friday and ready to fish for the weekend.  If I recall, it was a few bucks cheaper than Lakeside, but I could be mistaken.  That BP tackle shop also carries a lot of the Xtreme baits too now, so it's pretty convenient.

I got mine by going into Windsor via the Ambassador Bridge.   The officer on the Canadian side gave us directions to Wally's Bait and Tackle store.  It is only a few blocks from the Bridge.  I picked up both the card, and the license.

Only thing is, you must pay in cash.  But I had it when I walked out.

For me, it was a toss up.  Marine city is another 30-40 minutes north from where I live, so going across the bridge wasn't that big a deal.

We did however spend a little time in line going through customs both ways.

But on the way back, it was lunch in Mexican Village.  Not bad, not bad at all.
So much water.  So many lures.  So little time.

Lunch at Mexican Village sounds real good...
