Big dreams

I was out fishing the other day and was wondering if anyone had another way to fish this situation.  The water temp was 50 degrees and it was partly cloudy.  I caught fish on lay downs and beaver dams however, I was seeing flashes of those lunker bass going after all of the shad that were 1 foot above a weedy flat.  My initial instinct is a spinnerbait to imitate the prey.  Are there any other lures to use for this?  I know my Rapala would get hung up in the weeds unless it was a very shallow diver.  Any suggestions?

Durand Dan

I've been using a weightless Golden Shiner Fluke and having some success with the Smallmouth on the river. Same situation, jerking it over the weed beds.

McCarter

i would have tried a topwater.  anytime fish are eating schooled up bait, topwater will work.

fiker

Yep.  And so would a fluke, twitch twitch and let it die.
So would a Mann's 1-.

Stick bait, approp. color, and length to match the hatch, and then fish it like a fluke.
So much water.  So many lures.  So little time.
